Henry Laughlin
Henry R. Laughlin died suddenly on August 6, at home in San Francisco, at age 64. The son of publisher and Alta founder James Laughlin, Henry was an intrepid mountaineer with experience climbing and skiing throughout North and South America. He settled in San Francisco with his wife Carlene and raised two children. At the time of his death, Henry served on the boards of Alta Ski Lifts, Snake River Associates and Crystal Springs Ranch in Wilson, Wyo. Henry inherited a gene for depression, with which he struggled much of his life. He took keen joy in mountain adventures, and in cabinetmaking, and focused on design elements in the new buildings constructed at Alta.
Henry is survived by Carlene and their children Amelia and Walker, by his brothers Paul and Hugh Laughlin and their families.
