Herbert Bayer (1900–1985) was an Austrian graphic designer, painter, sculptor, photographer, interior designer and architect , and influential figure in the Bauhaus modern art movement. In 1946, he moved to Aspen, Colorado, hired by visionary Walter Paepcke. His architectural work there included co-designing the Aspen Institute and restoring the Wheeler Opera House.
