CANADIAN SKI HISTORY WRITERS PROJECT

The Canadian Ski History Writers Project (CSHWP) is an ongoing collaboration between the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame and Museum (CSHFM) and the International Skiing History Association (ISHA). The project was conceived back in 2009 by Morten Lund, ISHA founding editor, and John Fry, past ISHA chairman, with initial funding by The Chawkers Foundation. More recently Ken Hugessen, ISHA board member, has generously provided bridge-funding while long-term underwriting is arranged.  The goal is to preserve and celebrate Canada’s skiing heritage — and to raise awareness about this rich legacy within Canada and internationally — by commissioning and publishing well-researched, authoritative articles both online and in print.

In addition to publication on the CSMHF Website (see links below), most of the articles are published in ISHA’s bimonthly journal, Skiing History(SH). SH is distributed in print to more than 2,200 avid skiers, ski historians, ski museums, ski-industry leaders, and former and current World Cup and Olympic competitors around the world—primarily in the United States and Canada. A free subscription to Skiing History magazine is provided to all CSHFM members who join at the “Supporting" level.

Since 2009, SH has published more than two-dozen articles funded by the Chawkers Foundation through the CSHWP. The articles are available for free download by clicking on the links below.
